Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 21 September 2026
1. Who we are
Campus Drop is an online student-to-student marketplace operated by Mxolisi Khumalo (“Campus Drop”, “we”, “us”), a South African business trading at campusdrops.co.za. You can reach us at admin@campusdrops.co.za.
By creating an account, browsing, buying or selling on Campus Drop you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Our role
Campus Drop is a venue that connects student buyers and sellers. We are not the seller of the items listed, we do not own them and we do not inspect them before they are listed. The contract of sale is between the buyer and the seller. We do, however, collect payment on the seller’s behalf and hold it until the order is completed.
3. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older, or have the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You must give accurate details and keep your login credentials secure.
- You are responsible for everything that happens on your account.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, misuse the platform or harm other users.
4. Listings and prohibited items
Sellers must describe items honestly, with real photos and accurate prices in Rand.
The following may not be listed or sold on Campus Drop:
- Illegal goods or services, stolen property and counterfeit items
- Weapons, ammunition and explosives
- Drugs, alcohol, tobacco, vapes and related paraphernalia
- Prescription medicines, supplements with restricted substances
- Adult or sexually explicit content or services
- Live animals
- Academic dishonesty services (assignments or exams written for a fee)
- Financial instruments, gambling, cryptocurrency and multi-level schemes
- Personal data, account credentials or hacked digital goods
- Anything that infringes another person’s intellectual property
We may remove any listing, at any time, that we reasonably believe breaks these rules.
5. Payments and the 10% service fee
- All payments are made on the site through our secure payment partners. Campus Drop does not store your card details.
- All prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) and include VAT where applicable.
- Campus Drop charges a flat 10% service fee on the item value of each completed sale. On a R500 item we retain R50 and the seller receives R450 plus any delivery fee charged to the buyer.
- Payment is held after checkout and only released to the seller’s earnings balance once the buyer confirms they have received the order, or after the dispute window has passed.
- Sellers request payouts from their earnings balance to a verified South African bank account in their own name.
6. Delivery and collection
Sellers choose which options they offer: campus collection, personal delivery, or courier. Delivery timeframes and fees are set by the seller and shown before checkout. Risk in the goods passes to the buyer on delivery or collection. Buyers must confirm receipt in their orders page so the seller can be paid.
7. Cancellations, returns and refunds
- An order may be cancelled by either party before it is dispatched or collected, and the buyer is refunded in full.
- In line with section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, buyers may cancel an online purchase of goods within 7 days of delivery and return them undamaged, unless the goods are excluded from that right (for example perishable food or personalised items). Return delivery costs are for the buyer’s account.
- If an item never arrives, is significantly different from the listing, or is faulty, report it within 7 days of the delivery date. Where the claim is upheld we refund the buyer from the held funds.
- Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method.
8. Disputes
Buyers and sellers should first try to resolve issues through Campus Drop messages. If that fails, email admin@campusdrops.co.za with the order number and evidence. We will review both sides and decide how held funds are released. Our decision on the release of held funds is final for platform purposes; it does not limit your legal rights.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use Campus Drop to harass, defraud, spam or impersonate anyone, to take payments off-platform to avoid the service fee, to scrape the site, or to interfere with its security or operation.
10. Liability
Campus Drop is provided “as is”. To the extent permitted by South African law, we are not liable for the quality, safety or legality of items listed, for the conduct of any user, or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
11. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page with its update date. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
